Nibbles and Bites Add Up!

Nibbles and Bites Add up

After weight loss surgery, eating extra bites and grazing on food throughout the day can lead to slow weight loss and even weight gain.

If you are experiencing this, here is something to think about: Are there extra nibbles and bites in your day? If someone took these 12 extra bites look what happens:

  • ¼ cup orange juice left at the bottom of the jug=26 calories
  • 2 tablespoons granola left in the box=64 calories
  • 2 tablespoons powdered cream substitute=20 calories
  • Sample of cake=73 calories
  • Sandwich for lunch and the mayo too=100 calories
  • 2 mints=20 calories
  • 2 chocolate kisses=50 calories
  • Handful of snack mix=105 calories
  • Cheese and cracker sample at the grocery store=55 calories
  • 2 tablespoons macaroni and cheese sample while you cook=54 calories
  • ¼ cup leftover macaroni and cheese from dinner and no plastic container to put it in=108 calories

These 12 extra nibbles, bites and sips add up to an extra 675 calories each day, which if consumed on a daily basis, would lead to one-pound weight gain in a week. Are there extra bites in your day? Awareness through keeping food records helps identify them.
