February is American Heart Month. Here are four easy recommendations that you can start doing today. Your heart will thank you.
1. Replace saturated and trans fats with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats such as avocados and nuts.
2. Use spices, herbs or lemon juice to flavor fish or meat instead of adding salt.
3. Choose frozen fruits or vegetables when fresh are not readily available.
4. Limit prepackaged foods to save money and to decrease salt intake.
